Please read the William Howells, Frank Norris and Henry James selections in the American Norton under Realism & Naturalism. This is in the 1865-1914 volume of the three book set, which is hopefully what you have. Howells is from Editor’s Study. Norris is from A Plea for Romantic Fiction.  James is from The Art of Fiction. 

These are the authors that were listed in the original syllabus for American Realism & Naturalism, but the name of the selection is slightly different. If you read the other selection, by the same authors, that is alright. But I will bring in the new schedule and we will try to be on the same page from here on out.
