At 2:30 pm (please arrive by 2:20 so we can use our time efficiently), we will all gather in the classroom for a final brief conversation and to fill out course evaluations. 

Oral exams

The schedule for the oral exams is posted below. 

On Thursday, December 06, you will all have to come in to class to fill out class evaluations, at 2:30pm. 
Your final portfolios are due by 5pm in the English office (2nd floor in Hoover) on Dec 7th (Friday). There will be a box there for them. Please include hard copies in a light or floppy folders. 

Your portfolio should include:

Personal Narrative (rough draft and final draft)
Ad Analysis (rough draft and final draft)
Summary (short and long version of a peer-reviewed article, which is clearly identified at the top of the summary)
Generational Name — claim and analysis (rough draft and final draft; bibliography)

Tomorrow, Thursday 11/8, a reminder that you should bring 2-3 peer-reviewed articles to class. These articles should support an aspect of your claim. 

We will work in class on thesis statements, again. You will be asked, in class, to start writing a thesis statement that supports the name you have chosen. Your thesis statement should drive your ongoing research. 

We will have the small group final oral exams on Wedns Dec 5 and Thursday December 6. Here is a sign-up sheet. Your final portfolios will be due Friday December 7th.

Next Thursday 11/1 and Tuesday 11/6

Next Thursday: Please bring in 2 peer-reviewed articles from your research. As much as possible, bring the full text in, printed out, to work on in class. We will work on summary, as well as on how to keep pushing your research question forward. 

Next Tuesday: Bring in revised versions of your ad analysis papers to class. Proofed and printed. Please come see me in office hours tomorrow (Wedns 1-:30-4:30 on Halloween) or next week to go over your paper if you can. 

TUESDAY THE 6th IS ELECTION DAY: PLEASE VOTE!!!

Advising Times

Here is a link to the sign-up sheet for Monday October 29 (please note that I have removed mandatory advising slots from Halloween).  
Please sign up for an advising slot on the 29th if you are at all able to. If you aren’t able to come on that day, please sign up for a slot on the 5th. I will eventually open up these slots to other advisees (beyond my first year group).

Also: Please note — you will write an initial thesis statement for Thursday November 1.
